Today,
Mom and I were walking
Along the trail
By the Norman train station.

Outside,
There were two,
(What looked like to be)
Fourteen year olds.

She was in a black dress
That was short,
And had huge pink flowers
All over it...
It was a-line from her
Waste to her knees,
And strapless;

She had on a little black cardigan
And pearls.

Her hair was up in a bun.

And he-
Wore a white button up shirt
With no tie.
He had his hands
Folded behind his back;

And he watched her holding
Her tiny pink and red
And white bouquet-

Her painted toes
In strappy high heels-
Fiddling everywhere...

Her eyes beaming at his.

And the preacher
held his bible close,
And four proud parents,

Stood back smiling-
Like they had no reservations.

And from the sidewalk-
Even at a distance...
I could feel how much they loved
Each other,

And I knew
That they were going to spend the rest of their lives together.

They didn't look fearful-
They only looked eager;

And I wished I could love like that...
Again-

Like I loved the first time,
Bravely and ambitiously...

Because love like that,
Really is never failing.

You never fall out of love
With your first love.

And today,
They were lucky.

Today...
They were married.
